Accomplice to Kidnaping, Murder Gets 34 Years
A woman convicted of helping a drifter kidnap two Chatsworth girls and kill one of them was sentenced Friday to 34 years in prison. Marsha Lynn Ramos, 36, showed no reaction as she was sentenced to the maximum term on her conviction for second-degree murder and seven related charges stemming from the 1987 abduction and shooting. Wendy Masuhara, 14, was killed in the 1987 attack. The surviving girl is now 17.
Ramos, who testified at her trial but did not plead her case Friday, maintains she was forced to aid Roland Norman Comtois in the crimes and will appeal the conviction, said Alex R. Kessel, one of her defense attorneys.
Comtois, 61, was sentenced in July to die in the gas chamber for his role in the kidnaping and murder.
