CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : ALAMEDA : Arson Suspected in Fires at 7 Structures

Containers for flammable liquid were found near the scenes of blazes that burned six houses and a cabinet shop, and firefighters said arson was strongly suspected. Fifty firefighters controlled the blaze, said Deputy Fire Chief Bob Cowell. No one was injured. The fires were sparked at several locations within the buildings, officials said. The fires swept through buildings at three sites within three to four blocks, Cowell said.
