IN THE DARK: As your mother always said, “If you’re going to read, turn on a light.” The problem with that for the main Santa Ana library was that the manufacturer shipped the wrong light fixtures. . . . One of the benefits of the million-dollar renovation going on is improved lighting, which one official said was so bad that “you literally needed miners’ caps to find books in there.” The light snafu pushed the scheduled re-opening back from the end of January to the end of March or maybe even April.
