Man Arrested After Neighbor Fatally Shot

A Van Nuys man was arrested on suspicion of murder Tuesday after police found his neighbor shot to death at an apartment building in the 14600 block of Calvert Street, authorities said.

Investigators identified the suspect as Hung Van Vo, 36, who is believed to have lived in the same building.

Lt. Warren Knowles said officers found the victim after answering a domestic dispute call from a resident of the building about 10:45 a.m. Police said the front door of an apartment appeared to have been forced open. When officers entered, they found the body of a man on the kitchen floor, a woman crying at his feet.

The man, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene from a single gunshot wound to the head.

The woman was crying hysterically, Knowles said, and was taken to a local hospital. Police did not know if the woman had been injured.
