HUNTINGTON BEACH : Trustees Narrow Field to 3 Finalists

Share

Trustees of the Huntington Beach Union High School District on Wednesday announced three finalists they are considering for appointment to their board.

The district residents still competing to fill the board’s vacant seat are: Barbara McDowell, a retired school psychologist; Michael Simons, a pediatrician, and Frank Stoutenburgh, an airline manager.

The board chose the finalists after interviewing eight candidates during its meeting Tuesday night. One applicant did not attend the meeting.

Trustees at their Feb. 12 meeting will again interview the three remaining candidates and select their new member immediately afterward.

The new trustee will replace Linda Moulton-Patterson, who resigned in December after being elected to the Huntington Beach City Council.

The ongoing selection process marks the second time in the past six months that the board has appointed a new member, rather than calling a costly special election. Trustees last August appointed Bonnie Bruce to the board after David Warfield resigned his seat.

The new member will face an election in November, since Moulton-Patterson’s term was to expire this year.
