White Supremacist Editor Sentenced to Jail

The managing editor of a newspaper published by white supremacist Tom Metzger’s White Aryan Resistance was sentenced Thursday to 10 days in jail for contempt of court for disobeying an order not to transfer funds out of a bank account.

San Diego Municipal Judge Timothy Tower sentenced Wyatt Kaldenberg after finding that he disobeyed the judge’s Dec. 21 order not to take money out of an account Kaldenberg controlled. Lawyers have been probing various assets that may be connected to Metzger as they try to collect a $12.5-million civil judgment against him and the White Aryan Resistance group.

According to attorney James McElroy, who has been trying to collect the $12.5 million, Kaldenberg took $1,200 from the account the day that Tower issued his order, collecting it in five withdrawals from an automated teller machine.

A jury in Portland, Ore., returned the $12.5-million verdict in October, finding that Metzger, his son John, WAR and two skinheads were liable in the beating death of Mulugeta Seraw, a 27-year-old Ethiopian immigrant.
