James L. Sanders, the regional administrator of the Los Angeles office of the Securities and Exchange Commission, says he plans to leave his agency post and become a partner in the Los Angeles law firm Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, effective April 1.
At the SEC, Sanders, 42, has been responsible since June, 1989, for supervising the agency’s regional enforcement and examination programs. Before the SEC, Sanders spent nine years as an assistant U.S. attorney.
Sanders, who handled about 40 trials while at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, is expected to help expand the law firm’s trial division. He received his law degree from the University of Tulsa, College of Law in 1973.
