PUBLIC FORUMS ON RECYCLING

Last year the Legislature passed the California Integrated Waste Management Act, which requires each city in the state to enact programs to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills. The law sets requirements of 25% less waste material by 1995 and 50% less by 2000. Five local workshops on waste reduction and recycling have been organized for residents and businesses in the 22 cities and unincorporated areas of Southeast Los Angeles County. Consultants, city officials, sanitation district and county representatives will be present to discuss ideas on recycling efforts. Workshops will be held at 7 p.m. at the following locations:
