Man Admits He Lived It Up at Director Spielberg’s Expense

A North Hollywood man admitted Thursday that he spent more than $5,000 on champagne, elegant dinners and limousine rides and charged the bill to director Steven Spielberg.
David Bojorquez, 29, pleaded guilty in San Fernando Municipal Court to four counts of felony grand theft as part of a plea bargain with the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Under the agreement, he will be sentenced on Feb. 26 to three years in state prison, while four other grand theft counts will be dismissed, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Sharon V. Garabedian.
Last month, Bojorquez spent several nights on the town, dining with his friends at restaurants such as La Petit Chateau and La Serre, and riding in limousines, Garabedian said.
“He really lived it up,” she said. “He ordered roses and Dom Perignon champagne.”
Garabedian said Bojorquez told restaurant employees and limousine companies that he worked for Amblin Entertainment, Spielberg’s production company, and that the company would pay the bills.
He didn’t work for the company, but “apparently he was familiar enough with the way it was done,” Garabedian said. “He just exuded this confidence.”
Bojorquez was arrested Jan. 25 after the production company got the bills.
Without the plea bargain, he faced up to six years in prison.
