South Pasadena : Historic District Delayed
- Share via
The City Council delayed a proposal to declare Oaklawn Avenue a landmark historic district after many Oaklawn homeowners said they opposed the plan or were confused.
“We are very fearful of losing our property rights,” Karen Reynolds said during an hourlong public hearing Wednesday.
An attorney for another Oaklawn resident argued that the city would be violating state laws if it approved the proposal. William Ross said such a ruling would be legally inconsistent with portions of South Pasadena’s General Plan, the wide-ranging guide for planning and development in the city.
The council asked for a legal review of the matter before the discussion continues Feb. 20.
