Lloyd Stanton Greenlea, former chief of staff at Glendale Adventist Medical Center who practiced medicine in Montrose for 44 years, has died at his La Canada-Flintridge home. He was 80.

Greenlea died Jan. 30 of cancer, said his son-in-law, Lloyd Baumer.

Born in Los Angeles, Greenlea graduated from the University of Loma Linda Medical School in 1934. A general practitioner, he opened an office in Montrose in 1935 and served as chief of staff at Glendale Adventist Medical Center from 1956 to 1979.

After his retirement in 1979, he continued as a member of the medical center’s Utilization Review Committee. A sports car enthusiast and boat racer, Greenlea was a member of the Lake Arrowhead Water Ski Club.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Greenlea; daughters Janice Baumer of La Canada-Flintridge, Judith Wurtz of Somis, Joan Greenlea of Santa Barbara and Jill Reeves of Lake Arrowhead, Calif.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday at the Glendale Adventist Medical Center Chapel, 1509 Wilson Terrace, Glendale.

The Neptune Society in Burbank is handling the arrangements.

Donations can be sent in Greenlea’s name to the Glendale Adventist Foundation.
