FULLERTON : Elderly Man Killed While Crossing Road
A 77-year-old Fullerton man was killed after he was struck by two cars on Orangethorpe Avenue, police said.
Luis Angel Orozco and a companion were crossing Orangethorpe near Courtney Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Saturday night when he was hit by a car driven by Leonardo Sosa, 26, of Anaheim, Sgt. Mike Maynard said.
Sosa was booked on suspicion of felony hit and run, drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter, police said.
Witnesses told police that as Sosa’s car sped away, a second car struck Orozco where he had fallen.
“He was hit and knocked down, and a second vehicle struck him,” Maynard said. The two cars narrowly missed Orozco’s companion, who was not identified. Orozco was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Both Sosa and the driver of the second car fled, but police arrested Sosa a little while later near the intersection of Brookhurst Road and Orangethorpe, Maynard said.
Maynard asked that witnesses with information on the second car contact Officers Mark Fewel or Wayne Dale at the Fullerton Police Traffic Bureau, (714) 738-6912.
