COUNTYWIDE : Airport Study to Be Presented

Share

A study on the economic benefits derived by the county airports in Oxnard and Camarillo will be presented Tuesday to the Board of Supervisors.

The presentation, which will be heard at 9:30 a.m., will summarize the result of a $40,000 study the county ordered in September to assess the economic impact of both county airports.

The study took four months to complete and was conducted by Corning & Associates of Palo Alto. It will be presented to the board by Peter Corning, a senior partner with the firm.

The study is expected to show how the airports have increased local jobs, spending and investments, according to a report by Airports Administrator James G. O’Neill.

However, O’Neill has said that the objective of the report was to build public support for the county’s airports, which have been the subject of growing criticism because of noise and safety concerns.
