Officer Kills Man and His Brother After Attack

A police officer shot and killed a man and his brother after they attacked him early Tuesday as the officer questioned one man’s wife about her allegations that he had beaten her up, authorities said.

Pouvi Tualaulelei, 31, and his brother Itali Tualaulelei, 22, both died in the driveway of the elder man’s home in the 1800 block of North Grandee Avenue in Compton shortly after midnight, Lt. Steve Roller said. The officer shot the pair after they allegedly assaulted him and tried to wrest away his gun. The officer, who was not identified, was uninjured.

Police said the officer had gone to the house after Julie Tualaulelei, 33, called police to report that her husband, Pouvi, had beaten her and left the house with her two young sons, Roller said. As the officer began to question the woman, the brothers drove up and confronted him in the driveway.
