TOLEDO, Ohio — A man named Valentine, distraught over his divorce, shot himself in the head with an arrow from a crossbow on Valentine’s Day after chasing his ex-wife around her house with a knife, police said.
Jeffrey Valentine, 32, died of a self-inflicted arrow wound to his head, the Lucas County coroner’s office reported.
Valentine showed up at his ex-wife’s house at about 3 a.m. Thursday, police Sgt. Walt Biegala said. She let him in, and Valentine began chasing her with a knife.
The woman’s boyfriend got Valentine out of the house and called police, Biegala said. Before officers arrived, Valentine took a crossbow from his car and shot himself in the head.
Valentine, who was conscious when officers arrived, told them he shot himself because of the divorce, Biegala said.
