SIMI VALLEY : Man Found Slain in Industrial Park

Share

Simi Valley police were investigating the slaying of a man who was found beaten to death Friday in the industrial park office where he worked.

Jonathan Duxbury, 38, was found shortly after 7 a.m. on the floor of the offices of Rain Master Irrigation Systems Inc. in the 4600 block of East Industrial Street, said Lt. Neal Rein.

An employee of the company discovered the body when he arrived for work, Rein said.

An autopsy performed by the Ventura County coroner’s office found that Duxbury had died from head injuries inflicted by a blunt instrument, Rein said.

No weapon was found at the scene, and police declined to say whether there was any sign of forced entry into the building.

Rein said police have no leads on a motive or a suspect.

Jim Jacobs, who owns a glass and mirror company next door, said he had talked to Duxbury on only a couple of occasions. “He seemed like a real nice guy,” he said.

Jacobs and other business owners in the industrial park complex said they have not had any major problems with crime.

They said they plan to take extra precautions by locking up early and making sure their alarm systems are working.

Duxbury’s slaying is the third this year in Simi Valley, which reported only one homicide in 1990.
