Don’t Make Light of Marathon Runners
If Melvin Durslag cannot see the beauty of the marathon (Feb. 9), he does not understand the desire of the athlete to conquer. In order to run the marathon, it requires the body, mind and spirit of the runner. The marathon is not only a sport of great tradition, but a sort of religion. To finish a marathon is to find something within yourself not reached by any other method.
