A fight that started at an El Segundo convenience store ended in Manhattan Beach where a 17-year-old youth was shot to death Saturday and a 21-year-old man critically wounded, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials said.

Jeremy Perales of Burbank was pronounced dead about 1:30 a.m. at a gas station at 1865 Manhattan Beach Blvd., said Deputy Fidel Gonzales.

The wounded man, also from Burbank, was in critical but stable condition at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Gonzales said. His name was not released.

The two young men were in the back of a pickup truck that contained several other Burbank-area friends and was parked at a convenience store in the 900 block of Main Street in El Segundo.

A fight erupted between the two young men and a group of youths in another car, Gonzales said. Perales and his friends attempted to flee but were followed through several South Bay streets and, Gonzales said, were fired upon at least twice.

Seeking assistance, the pickup pulled into the gas station where Manhattan Beach police officers were flagged down and pronounced Perales dead.
