COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Nevin, Hattabaugh Help Titans End Five-Game Skid

Cal State Fullerton stopped a five-game losing streak by beating Cal State Los Angeles, 12-1, in a college baseball game Tuesday at Amerige Park in Fullerton.

Phil Nevin and Matt Hattabaugh each drove in two runs for Fullerton (4-9). Hattabaugh and Frank Charles each had three hits for Fullerton.

In other nonconference baseball:

Cal Lutheran 14, Chapman 0--Mike Clark (2-0) allowed three hits over seven innings for the victory for host Cal Lutheran (6-1). Chapman, which made six errors, is 3-8.

Cal State Dominguez Hills 5, Southern California College 2--Host Dominguez Hills (4-5) rallied for three runs in the eighth to break a 2-2 tie. Ernie Soto opened the eighth with a double and SCC (3-5) went to reliever David Black who walked three consecutive batters to force in the go-ahead run. Dominguez Hills got the final run when Jeff Richardson stole home as the front end of triple steal.

SCC’s Brad Keays had doubled and later stole home as SCC took a short-lived 2-1 lead in the fifth.

Biola 8, Christ College Irvine 5--Christ College Irvine scored three runs in the ninth inning but visiting Biola (2-5) hung on. Lonny Zimmerman was four for four with one RBI for CCI (7-4).

In Golden State Athletic Assn. nen’s basketball:

CC Irvine 55, Fresno Pacific 53--Jamie McShann made two free throws with four seconds left to give visiting Christ College Irvine (12-17, 5-7) the victory.

In Big West Conference women’s tennis:

UC Irvine 8, New Mexico State 1--Host Irvine broke a four-match losing streak. The Anteaters swept six singles.
