A 29-year-old Camarillo man was indicted on charges of robbing four banks in Ventura County last year, federal authorities said Wednesday.

Raymond James Hoslett was also indicted by the federal grand jury on Friday on counts of using a fictitious name to buy a firearm and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, said Gary Auer, head of the Ventura County FBI office.

Hoslett last year robbed the Bank of America, 307 E. Ojai Ave., Ojai, on Jan. 4 and American Commercial Bank, 304 E. Main St., Ventura, on Jan. 9, Auer said. He also is suspected of last year’s robberies of Home Savings of America, 2115 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura, on Feb. 8 and the Santa Barbara Savings & Loan, 350 Esplanade Drive, Oxnard, on Feb. 8, authorities said.

FBI agents showed pictures taken by bank cameras during the robberies to authorities throughout the county, who recognized Hoslett, Auer said.

Authorities arrested Hoslett on Feb. 20, 1990, in Santa Paula on outstanding charges of federal parole violation. He has been in federal custody since that time. At that time, authorities found a shotgun in his car, Auer said.

If convicted, Hoslett could be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $5,000 fine for each robbery, Auer said.
