O.C. Performing Arts Center Should Offer Pop/Rock Music

I am a small donor to the Orange County Performing Arts Center and a frequent subscriber to performances there.

While I am only one voice, I want to make it clear that as a member of their audience I would love to see them expand their offerings to include pop and rock concerts.

I am in my 30s and pop music has been an important part of my life. I’d love to see live performances in a quality theater, with a roof, that isn’t 50 miles away.

I implore center officials to reconsider adding pop/rock concerts to their offerings, or allowing concert promoters to offer them at the theater.

I would like to add that the center needs to be more adventurous in booking dance and showcase acts. Many great dance companies exist that offer more than the standard fare served up by traditional groups. While some companies may not be recognized as equal in quality to the American Ballet Theatre or the Joffrey Ballet, they would compensate by offering more intellectual stimulation.

If the center continues to offer performances from a limited field, it will lose audiences to more adventurous theaters in Los Angeles.

Despite the unpleasantness of the drive, I know that I would seek something new from other theaters.
