The American Institute of Architects has given its 1991 Architecture Firm award to Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership (ZGF), a firm based in Portland, Ore., with branches in Newport Beach and Seattle. The award recognizes firms that have produced “distinguished architecture” consistently for at least 10 years. ZGF, which has received more than 85 design awards, was chosen for its “high standards” and “its impact on the Northwest region.” Among the firm’s projects are buildings for four campuses of the University of California, including Engineering Unit Z at UCI. The award will be conferred at the AIA’s 1991 national convention in Washington, D.C., May 17 through 20.
