A major road in Thousand Oaks was closed after a car collided with a pool cleaner’s truck and toxic acids from the truck spilled onto the road, authorities said Tuesday.
Jennifer Watts, 19, of Newbury Park was driving her car west on Old Conejo Road Monday at 11:50 a.m. when she tried to turn left across the path of an eastbound pickup near Reino Road, said Sheriff’s Deputy Jerry Lawrence.
When the vehicles collided, three gallons of muriatic acid and one gallon of chlorine in the bed of the truck spilled, Lawrence said.
The area was closed for more than an hour while the Ventura County Fire Department cleaned up the spill, he said.
Watts and truck driver James Thompson, 37, of Westlake received minor injuries. They were treated at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks and released, Lawrence said.
