Ocean Beach
A serial bank robber who usually distinguishes himself by wearing an Oakland Athletics cap struck for the ninth time Friday, escaping with about $2,000, police said.
The man entered a Union Bank branch in the 1800 block of Cable Street in Ocean Beach at 9:24 a.m. and got in line with other customers, said police spokesman Bill Robinson.
When he reached the counter, he handed the teller a demand note which included the words, “I have a gun. I will shoot.”
The man shoved the cash into a red file folder and fled on foot, Robinson said.
Witnesses said he wore a white baseball cap, sunglasses and checkered pants.
