Bush: Nickname
Some U.S. Army troops have affectionately pinned a wartime nickname on President Bush: “THUMBSCREWS.” Said Lt. Col. Bill Chamberlain, commander of a battalion of the 197th Infantry Brigade: “At every corner, George turns the thumbscrews on Saddam Hussein and we love it.” The full nickname is “Thumbscrew Six,” because commanders are given a radio code name followed by the word “six.”
