Police are investigating a murder-suicide in which a man fatally shot his estranged wife Friday in a parking lot before killing himself.
Roy Michael Bauman, 28, of Oceanside shot Emilia Bignay Bauman, 31, of Vista, then killed himself after the two argued Friday afternoon in a parking lot in the 5600 block of Boot Way, said Officer Bob George of the Oceanside Police Department.
The couple often met there on Friday afternoons, where the woman would turn the couple’s 3-year-old daughter over to Bauman for the weekend, George said.
Police found Bauman’s body next to a parked car with a gunshot wound in the right temple. His wife’s body was discovered inside the car, also with a gunshot wound to the head.
Witnesses told police they heard the couple arguing and saw the woman try to get away from Bauman, who fired through the driver’s side window.
Police said the couple’s daughter was not present during the shooting.
