ROUNDUP : 3 Agoura Pitchers No-Hit Calabasas

Share

Three Agoura High pitchers held Calabasas hitless to guide the Chargers to a 10-0 nonleague baseball victory Tuesday at Calabasas.

Starter Jason Warren (1-0) and relievers Sean Fitzgerald and Ed Gillis combined on the no-hitter in Agoura’s opener. The timing of the feat surprised Bart Morefield, the Chargers’ first-year coach.

“We’re not as sharp as I’d like to be right now,” Morefield said of his pitching staff. “We’re a little high in the strike zone. I was surprised to get a no-no this early in the season.”

Calabasas (0-1) threatened with two out in the third inning after Warren walked the bases loaded. But the Coyote rally fell short when Warren got Keith Slettedahl on a fly ball to deep center field.

Warren, Fitzgerald and Gillis combined for seven strikeouts. Fitzgerald also had a two-run double and Matt Epstein added a three-run home run in the third for Agoura.
