Steve Pate, who hasn't won in three years, was three-under par for the 15 holes he played, and 13 under for the PGA Tour event at Coral Springs, Fla., before play was suspended because of rain and strong winds.

Pate has a six-stroke lead, but he still has three holes to play today before the final round on the TPC at Eagle Trace course starts.

"Carnival golf," said Greg Norman, who joined Paul Azinger in an attack on the course design.

"This course was not meant to be played in anything but perfect conditions," Azinger said. "And I'm telling you, boys, we don't have 'em."
