San Diego police were surprised Tuesday morning when they ordered an armed-robbery suspect from a Southeast San Diego house and instead were confronted with 27 undocumented immigrants who gave themselves up.
Police responded at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a man having been robbed of $21 at gunpoint in the 4000 block of Newton Avenue.
The officers saw an armed suspect enter a nearby house through a window, police spokesman Bill Robinson said, quickly surrounded the house and ordered the occupants to come out.
The 27 undocumented immigrants, including the suspect, walked out.
All were turned over to the Border Patrol, Robinson said.
