A Chula Vista man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he shot his next-door neighbor to death, apparently in a dispute over a chain-link fence that divided their yards, police said.

After several days of argument between the two families over the fence, Jose Irieno Cabrales, 53, allegedly shot once at one of several neighbors with a shotgun as they stood in the front yard of their property in the 1100 block of 2nd Avenue, Sgt. Richard Strickland said. One of the families apparently did not want the fence to be there, he said.

Isaac (Frank) Diaz Drinnon, 35, a welder, was dead at the scene, police said.
