La Puente : Apartment Project Rejected
A proposal that would have allowed a 10-unit apartment or condominium complex to replace a single-family home at 334 N. Sunset Ave. was turned down Tuesday by the City Council.
The council voted 5 to 0 to deny a request to allow high-density multifamily housing on the property and sent the proposal back to the Planning Commission for further study. The council directed the commission to consider low-density housing or commercial use for the property.
During a public hearing, residents living close to the property complained that nearby apartments already contribute to traffic, noise and crime problems. A new complex in the neighborhood would probably fuel more problems, they said.
