Nothing Minor About Cutting Back at UCLA

Share

It is the “minor sports program” that is the strength of the UCLA athletic department. Why don’t they think of cutting back or eliminating some of the less-successful programs? The football team has not had a winning season or been to a bowl game for the last two years. The baseball team has a terrible record in the Southern Division of the Pac-10 over the last two years. Even the fabulous men’s basketball program lost seven Pac-10 games.

This elimination of three very strong programs and the retention of three mediocre ones is typical of the poor management that has been occurring regularly at UCLA.
