PLATFORM : Soaking the Rich

Our plan goes into effect in April. To us it means no gardening at all. With the restricter it will be tough to even take a shower. We don’t see it as a punitive thing. We just see it as a way to make it. Higher rates are not enough to keep people from using too much water.

One criticism in the past was if you were rich enough you could buy your way out. You can’t do that anymore. If you go over the allotment, we’ll put the restricters on seven days the first time, 10 days the second time and 30 days the third time. Then we’ll turn the water off. We’re not trying to hammer anyone. This is the only way we can do it. We’ve dealt with irate customers before. We’ll try to remain calm and understanding.
