Dehere Lifts Seton Hall Past Creighton
He had to go all the way to Utah to find it, but Terry Dehere has his shooting touch back.
The sophomore guard from Jersey City, N.J., has 54 points in two NCAA tournament games, including 28 in Saturday’s 81-69 second-round victory over Creighton.
“Dehere was way too tough for our guards to handle,” Bluejay Coach Tony Barone said. “I think that was the game right there. I thought Dehere was phenomenal today.”
Dehere entered the NCAA West Regional after an eight-for-35 performance in the Big East tournament. But in Salt Lake City, he was 21 for 35 as the Pirates rolled to a date with No. 8 Arizona Thursday in the regional semifinals at Seattle.
Dehere, 12 of 18 from the field and four of seven from three-point range, scored 20 points in the second half as the Pirates (24-8) erased a 32-31 halftime deficit.
The Pirates have won 11 of their last 12 games.
