Texas Ends UCLA’s Track Streak
The UCLA men’s track team lost for the first time in 52 dual meets since 1984 as Texas beat the Bruins, 83-71, Saturday at Drake Stadium.
Texas also beat Fresno State, 119-44, and won the triangular scoring with 91 points. UCLA had 85 and Fresno 27. UCLA beat Fresno, 115-48.
Texas was led by Duaine Ladejo, who won the 400 meters in 46.97 seconds and anchored both winning relay teams.
UCLA had two double winners--Eric Bergreen in the hammer (201 feet 1) and shotput (60-8 3/4) and Tony Miller in the 100 meters (10.3 seconds) and 200 (21.34).
The Bruin women beat Fresno State, 80-56, for their 22nd consecutive dual-meet victory.
