Many Hotels Offer Domestic Discounts

Holiday Inns is still running its “Great Rates” program, which offers at least a 20% discount off regular rates seven days a week at more than 1,000 participating Holiday Inns and Holiday Inns Crowne Plaza Hotels in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Discounts vary from property to property, with blackout periods possible for some holidays and special events. Advance reservations are needed. Rooms are on a space-available basis.

Four people to a room is the usual maximum, depending on the property. Ask for the Great Rates discount when you make a booking, either through a travel agent or the chain at (800) 465-4329.

Days Inns is still offering its “Simple Super Saver” program at more than 1,100 properties throughout the United States. Properties in Canada and Mexico are included, though Hawaii is not. Cost is $19 to $39 per night, with up to four guests allowed in each room, about 20% off the regular rates.

In some cities there may be a $10 surcharge. Moreover, reservations must be made at least 29 days in advance, with the first night prepaid. There are no weekend or holiday restrictions. Budget Host Inns is offering bonus coupons at many of its U.S. properties. Coupons may provide $1 to $2 off room rates; 10% to 20% off the total tab; food and beverage at hotel dining facilities or nearby restaurants, and admissions to local attractions. Weekends and holidays may be excluded. The discounts are listed with each participating property in the chain’s directory.

Free directories are available by calling (800) 283-4678. Reservation calls to this toll-free number are transferred to the front desk of the specific property you wish to contact.

Hyatt has a new “Stay Free” promotion offering a certificate for one free weekend night at any Hyatt hotel in the United States or Canada if you accumulate three stays of at least one night per stay at any Hyatt hotel worldwide. Five stays earn a certificate for two complimentary weekend nights; seven or more stays bring three free weekend nights.

Travelers must complete their stays by April 30 to receive certificates, which must be used between June 15 and Dec. 20. Though you must be a Hyatt Gold Passport member to use and receive the certificates, membership in the chain’s frequent-stay program is free.
