HUNTINGTON BEACH : Schools Seeking Budget Advisers

Share

The Ocean View School District is seeking parents and other district residents to serve on its 1991-92 community budget advisory committee.

Committee members will work with district staff officials on a budget proposal for what is seen as a pivotal school year.

Ocean View is facing a deficit estimated at $1.4 million this year, with anticipated education spending cuts statewide expected to further increase the district’s financial woes.

Applications for the 10 community posts will be accepted through Friday. Each of the five school board members will choose two members for the committee following applicant interviews at their April 2 meeting.

The committee will meet regularly during April and May before presenting its proposal to the board of trustees.

Any resident of the district, which includes parts of Huntington Beach, Westminster, Fountain Valley and Midway City, may apply for a committee position.

Applications are available at any of Ocean View’s 17 schools and at the district offices, 7200 Pinehurst Lane in Huntington Beach.
