From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Boeing Aims Ads at Reviving Travel: In an unusual step, Boeing Commercial Airplane Group is launching a major advertising campaign to help end the travel slump brought on by the Gulf War. Boeing said it will place full-page ads in daily newspapers that circulate in nine countries in Asia, Europe and North America. The announcement came as the Air Transport Assn. reported that air traffic in February experienced its steepest drop in nearly 25 years. The ATA said passenger traffic in the United States fell 5.5% while international traffic dropped by a whopping 26.8%. The total decline was about 10%.
