Presentation of ‘Pen Pals’ Was Well Done

Your presentation of the “Pen Pals” material from my grandson, Nicholas Becker, and myself (Times, March 14) was exceptionally well written and presented. My grandson and I thank you very much for your interest and for the publicizing of what we feel is important: the contact and support of our troops overseas.

Since you collected the material last week my eldest son, who was at that time serving in a POW camp near Kuwait as a surgeon assisting the Iraqi POWs, has returned to the USA and is at this moment at Ft. Ord (near Monterey). We are most happy to have him home, since we learned that at his camp one of the surgeons (was shot by a POW who) was not searched thoroughly enough for possession of arms.
