McCarthy Fires Teamster Official: William Genoese, director of the Teamsters union and a candidate to replace William McCarthy as international president of the union, said McCarthy had fired him. Union spokesmen were not available for comment, but union sources had suggested for months that Genoese’s job was in jeopardy. McCarthy, 71, is not running for reelection in this year’s government-supervised balloting. Last year, McCarthy fired his executive assistant, Walter Shea, after Shea announced he was running for president.
