A weekend of firsts is in store for sports television viewers.

* Hockey: The Kings make their first appearance on local broadcast television since 1985 when they visit the Stanley Cup champion Edmonton Oilers at 5 p.m. Sunday on KTLA Channel 5. The Kings play host to the Flames at 1 p.m. today on Prime Ticket.

* Football: Spring pro football returns to TV for the first time since the U.S. Football League ceased play after the 1985 season when the World League of American Football debuts with two telecasts. Cable’s USA Network opens its coverage at 5 tonight when the Birmingham Fire play the Montreal Machine. The New York-New Jersey Knights visit the Barcelona Dragons for a noon delayed telecast Sunday on ABC (Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42.)

* Basketball: Berths in college basketball’s Final Four will be determined this weekend. CBS (Channels 2 and 8) will carry all four regional finals. Southeast: Arkansas meets Kansas at 1:40 p.m. today. West: Seton Hall plays No. 1 Nevada Las Vegas at 4:03 p.m. today. East: airs at 10:40 a.m. Sunday. Midwest: follows at 1 p.m.

The Lakers play the Seattle SuperSonics at 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Prime Ticket.
