Bradbury : Mayor Picked for 6th Term

The City Council has reelected John H. Richards to a sixth term as mayor and elected Audrey Hon as mayor pro tem, both by a 3-2 margin.

Councilwoman Beatrice LaPisto-Kirtley objected to the election last week, pointing out "the position (of mayor) has historically been rotated after two years" to the person next in line of seniority--LaPisto-Kirtley.

City Atty. Ed Dilkes said council rules were not specific on the point.

Richards told LaPisto-Kirtley: "When you can collect three people that think you should represent the city, I will be happy to step down."
