Charles M. Riley; Veteran L.A. Newsman
Charles M. Riley, 61, veteran Los Angeles newsman who was a former editor at City News Service and news director at KTTV. Born July 6, 1929, in Colorado, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Considered a “newsman’s newsman,” Riley was hired and rehired by KCBS, CNS and KTTV in efforts to upgrade their news operations. In recent years, he owned and published the Park La Brea News and the Seal Beach Tribune. In Glendale on Saturday of throat cancer and pneumonia.
