PLACENTIA : Panel to Assist in Veteran Recognition

The City Council has voted to appoint a committee of seven to 11 members who will be charged with devising a plan to recognize the city’s war veterans, including troops returning from Operation Desert Storm.
The committee, to be made up of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and other veterans organizations, will discuss whom to recognize, how to verify and collect information on veterans’ status, and how to pay and plan for recognition ceremonies.
The committee also will advise city staff on how to honor the veterans during the city’s Independence Day celebration, to be held in Bradford Stadium.
