Iowan Averages 225 Pins, Takes the Lead in Pacific Senior Event

Jim Brenner, of LeClaire, Iowa, averaged 225 for 12 games and took the lead in the $55,000 Pacific Senior PBA tournament at Cal Bowl in Lakewood Monday night.

The 51-year-old retired planning processor had a high game of 278 in the opening action of the four-day tournament. Bill DeWid was in second place, 46 pins behind.

Hall of Famers Dick Weber and Teata Semiz remained in contending positions.

“All I hope is to make the playoff final,” Brenner said.

The top five in the field of 144 bowlers will advance to the championship playoff, to be televised Thursday night by ESPN.
