SLIP-SLIDING AWAY: Dana Point officials are watching the landslide problems in the Dana Mesa tract with a bit of relief. The slide has knocked down trees and dumped earth into two homes. Other residents have moved out for safety. . . . Dana Mesa was part of Dana Point until 1988, when its residents successfully sought to become part of San Juan Capistrano. A San Juan official says that so far the slides haven’t caused a “major expense” for the city, but staff time, sandbags and piping, and a technical survey will probably wind up costing the city around $10,000.
