Armijo, a 29-year-old from Huntington Beach, chased Williams throughout the bout, but Williams responded with combinations and agile footwork, allowing him to win the first six rounds.

Armijo rallied to win the 10th and got a break in the 11th when Williams was penalized one point for a low blow.

Williams, 24, trains in San Diego, making him eligible for the California title. He was making his first defense since knocking out Armando Rodriguez last April to get the belt.
