Law Firm Added to Lincoln S&L; Suit: The government named the nation’s second-largest law firm--Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue--as one of 14 new defendants in its $2.7-billion fraud and racketeering suit against former Lincoln Savings & Loan owner Charles H. Keating Jr. and others. The amended complaint accuses the Cleveland-based law firm and two of its lawyers of malpractice in aiding and abetting Keating and others in a 1986 file-stuffing scheme to defraud Lincoln and deceive regulators by improperly adding supporting documents to loan files long after the loans had been made. Jones Day denied that it was negligent.
