Korean, Black Groups Plan Community Forum
In response to the shooting of a 15-year-old girl by a liquor store owner in South Los Angeles, African-American and Korean-American groups have called for a forum to bring together business owners, customers and community leaders to discuss conciliation work.
About 20 members of a coalition organized by the Black Korean Alliance called for the two communities to discuss mediation programs at a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the sanctuary of the Greater New Unity Baptist Church at 9719 S. Avalon Blvd.
“Efforts to prevent further tragedies must be shared by both communities because the problems cannot be solved by any one organization,” said Yang Il Kim, president of the National Korean American Grocers Assn.
