Sobriety Checkpoint to Be Manned Tonight
The San Diego Police Department said Friday it will conduct a sobriety checkpoint from Saturday night to Sunday morning in an effort to crack down on drivers who drink or use drugs.
Last year, 7,875 people were arrested in the city of San Diego for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and 1,537 alcohol-related accidents were reported on city streets, said police spokesman Bill Robinson.
The location of the checkpoint, which will begin operating at 9 p.m. Saturday, will not be announced, he said.
